In the end

In 1984 moon was a rookie sensation. He threw 3,338 yards during the season when he played for the CFL. Still the Oilers went 3-13 finishing last in their division. He faced a lot of pressure being the only black staring quarterback in the NFL. He said as he improved he was seen less as a black quarterback and more as a quarterback in general. He proved himself to everyone and they stopped seeing him as just a black man playing football. Between 1987 and 1993 the Oilers made it to the playoffs every year with Moon playing. In 1993 he was traded to the Vikinhs where he signed another $5.5 million contact for two years. He once again led his team to the playoffs. In 1996 moon was accused of domestic violence when a call was made to police and his wife was found with signs of abuse but he and his wife said the dispute was mutual and testified to a jury. Moon was acquitted of all charges and he and his wife reconciled but later divorced in 2001. Moon never reached his goal of winning the super brown but his talents didn't go unnoticed. He's in the CFL hall of fame. And he's the 5th best quarterback to ever be in the NFL holding the record for 4,489 yards in one season when he played for th Vikings. In his career he got 144 touchdowns and 21,000 yards in passing. He is now a analyst for the Seattle Seahawks and he is retired. He always wanted to play for the Seahawks but never made it which is why he decided to be their announcer and analyst. Moons life after the NFL took a turn for the worst when he was arrested for drunk driving but found that he was under the legal limit at the time of arrest therefore he was acquitted of dui chargers and instead was fined for negligent driving. Warren moon had a long career with the NFL and made small mistakes in his life after his time in the NFL was over. After talked about his life as a child he went into his recruiting experiences. His performance in high school caught the attention of the Universiyu of Washington. A coach named Don James offered Moon a chance to transfer to school with a stronger football program. Moon said he had doubts about playing for this team because of the racial tension that existed there under a previous coach. Also less than four percent of the school was black, but despite his doubts he decided to play for the school and he ended up warming the bench until his junior year and when he got play time he became the starting quarterback just as he did in high school. The Huskies stumbled to a 5-6 record when he was the starting quarterback. Moon also talked about the racial tension in the crowd and said he was booed by his own fans and often called names from the stands. Every time his team lost the blame was put on him mainly because he was the only black player on the field. This part of the book really shows how difficult it was for a young black man to succeed back then and how much harder he had to work to get where he wanted to be. But even though a lot of people tried to bring him down he lead his team to the rose bowl and won. He also won the conference championship. When moon played for the Oilers he was the highest payed nfl player before he even played. They offered a $5.5 million dollar contract. When moon joined Houston they were the worst franchise in the NFL having won only three games the previous two seasons. This showed Moon's confidence in his playing skills and he said it was one of the challenges of being apart of a growing situation.

Warren Moon Biography

As a football player I took an interest to a book written by a former quarterback and he played from 1978-2000. He started off his book by telling about how he began amd what his life was like as a child. He was one of seven kids and he was born in Los Angeles California. His mother raised the family on her own. His father passed away because of a liver disease while waiting for a new liver. Growing up he did every type of house work, he never did much of the typical things a man would do around the house. He cooked, sewed, cleaned, and ironed. His neighborhood was rough and his school wasn't the best but his mother worked hard and she knew he'd have many educational and cultural advances where they lived. In high school he chose to play football because he had to work most of the year to support his family but he was able to put off time to play during football season. He used a fiend of his mother's address to play football in a middle class area at a high school called Hammilton High. There he played as a quarterback but he didn't get much play time until his junior year. Even though he didn't play very often he still worked hard and practiced hard to earn a spot when his time came. When his junior year came around he was the starting quarterback for his school.
